Decided to actually check out the Kaito series... The Kaito Kid Special shown in the next episode preview at the end of this video is episode 4 of the "Detective Conan: Kid the Phantom Thief" series* here on Gogo.

*Not to be confused with Magic Kaito 1412 a separate series adapting the Magic Kaito manga, but differently than what Gogo calls Detective Conan: Kid the Phantom Thief - which are really just specials that were mixed in between Conan episodes like this one. The specials have Conan OPs and EDs, while the 1412 series has its own.

dead guy was an art-teacher. he taught at the same school as the PE teacher and the PE guy's girlfriend. the dead guy had a thing for the GF. he kidnapped the GF in his car, they had a car-wreck, and the GF died in it. dead guy got off because the cops couldn't prove anything. dead guy probably lost his job as a teacher, and he got to feeling so guilty because of all this he started drinking. dead guy moved away from the town where it happened, and he painted big signs.
